Houseboat Package details
Features of Houseboat Tourism..
For a one night - booking the time schedule starts from 12.00 noon and ends at 10.00 am, the following day.
Normally the houseboats are manned by a crew of three. The captain, engine driver and a cook. Most of them are hail from Kuttanad, and have underwent training in hospitality aspects. Despite the fact that they are not highly educated, theycan understand English because of their vast empirical experiences.
The houseboats are powered by small outboard and inboard engines. Large air-conditioned houseboats use inboard engines. After 5 pm the house boats are anchored in to a safe lake. (This allows the local lots to go for fishing in their small country boats- 5pm - 6 pm).
Houseboats are also studded with Solar energized lighting. Most of the houseboats have two twin bedded rooms. On full moon days one-bedroom houseboats are provided to attract honeymooners.
The food is usually prepared by following a regular menu chart, unless the customer does not intimate his preferences in advance. The meals are still being prepared in the traditional Kerala style.
The houseboats are certified by the Department of Tourism, Government of Kerala in two categories - Golden and Silver. The Golden category houseboats have more sophisticated features like spacious rooms, tiled toilets, hand - shower, kitchen, sit out and better service.
